Design & Material - Crafted by Two Minds, One Vision

Mora was founded on the belief that we all deserve more from life. Living in the heart of Minneapolis, Alix found herself overwhelmed by anxiety and fast pace of life. Seeking balance and calm, she discovered the art of crafting beautiful, functional pottery. Together with her husband Jerry, a material engineer, they created Mora to share this sense of calm with others — blending design and science to create products using Paladin Clay™, a ceramic body that’s 20% stronger than standard stoneware.

Every Mora piece is individually hand-glazed using all-natural colors from minerals. Slight variations in hue and speckling are celebrated, never hidden. Each piece tells its own quiet story of fire, time, and human touch.

Our family oversees the production studio with the same care we give to our own table, ensuring every glaze and every firing meets the standards we live by.

Matte reactive glaze for everyday comfort, with lead and cadmium leach testing shown as Pass under CA Prop 65 and FDA guidelines for the tested samples under the stated conditions.

We care deeply about health and transparency. That’s why we work with accredited third-party laboratories to test selected Mora items and help verify they meet applicable safety standards for the tested samples.

• Like all ceramics, it appreciates gentle transitions:
  after oven use, allow it to cool naturally before rinsing; avoid plunging hot ware into cold water or placing frozen items directly into a pre-heated oven. Let the temperature adjust gradually — it’s a small act of patience that extends its life.
• Occasional handwashing keeps the glaze luminous and smooth.
• Cutlery marks may appear over time — these are just metal residue traces, not scratches. To remove them, polish gently with Bar Keeper’s Friend, baking soda paste, or The Pink Stuff, as shown in our [Care Guide →].
